Sarah completed her coursework at Elizabethtown College in May before joining us in September. With a passion for using her voice as her primary instrument, she also served as a music director for Etown's a capella group. We’re thrilled to welcome Sarah to the WBMT team!

WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHEN INTERNING WITH WB MUSIC THERAPY?

Internship time period (37 weeks September-May)

Friday’s off
-
2 consecutive weeks off mid December-early January
-
work 1 Saturday afternoon in December, 2 Saturday mornings in the spring, attend 1 overnight self-awareness retreat with WBMT staff from Th-Sun in the spring

Participation in planning and executing two annual community music events
-
Learn small business operations
-
Focus on increasing personal self-awareness
-
One intern at a time
-
Opportunities to learn and provide music therapy advocacy
-
Supervision from board-certified music therapists
-
Working with young children, adolescents, adults, and older adults in individual and group settings
WHERE WILL I WORK?
You will need reliable transportation to take you in and around Dauphin, Lebanon and Cumberland counties.

2 outpatient private practice clinic spaces (1 in Lebanon County and 1 in Dauphin County)
-
Assisted living and nursing care facilities
-
Early childhood care centers
-
Music therapy business owners’ home offices (administrative work and supervision)

A farm! The farm is a day program for adults with intellectual differences, where “growers” spend their weekdays contributing to sustaining and maintaining farm life including animals, crops, and vegetation.
WHO WILL I WORK WITH?
In direct clinical work, you'll work with:
-
small groups of toddler and preschool-aged, neurotypical children
-
older adult groups and individuals with varying kinds of age- and dementia- related diagnoses
-
individuals varying between ages of 3-65 years with needs related to congenital and acquired developmental and mental health diagnoses
Among music therapy settings, you'll work with:
-
nurses (all levels of practice)
-
administrative staff
-
activities directors and staff
-
custodians
-
direct family members of clients
-
child care directors and providers
-
direct support professionals
